Greetings;
We are finally in the Mediteranian Sea! Our position at sunset on Fri. is 36 deg 59" N. - 1 deg 33" W. Tonight we will cross the Prime Meridian and will be in the eastern hemisphere. Sounds like a party onboard!
As we were approaching the strates of Gibralter yesterday we again encounterd winds of gale strength. (35-40 knots) These winds were funnaling right from the straits and opposing the current carrying us towards Gibralter. You sailors know what this does to the seas. It was by far the roughest conditions yet! Sitting at the helm was like somebody was throwing buckets of salt water in your face while you tried to ride a bucking bronco and steer a coarse. With full foulies on we still were soon soaked.
Shortly after passing Gibralter the winds died to 8-10, the seas calmed and we have been motoring ever since. We've been rinsing salt out of our clothes and have laundry hanging off all the lifelines. Looks just like the Clampets. Bobbi D. would approve.
Time for dinner. More later.
