Hello from Finalmente
Now have the Straights of Gibralter in our sights, after 2 days of kick butt Norths Atlantic weather. Winds started up around 22 knots, and built to 6 to 7 to 8 with gusts to 9 on the Beaufort wind Scale, [22 knots up to 41 knots gusts] with sustained winds at 36 to 38 knots, for 12 hrs, and seas to go with it. Today we are in the lee of the Algarve coast of Portugual, and calm seas, motor sailing, drying out things, showers, washing clothes with the washer dryer we installed in the Asores, what a differance a day makes, I'll go for this, life is tough but we are making due. Finalmente handled it great through all this, lots of bouncing, noise and holding on.
Urban
As Urban described above, the North Atlantic had one more thing to show us before we escape to the Med.. Very rough but Finalmente handled it well! Sailing below CaboDe Sao Vincete felt like going south around Pt. Conception.
We are now at 36 deg 09" N. - 7deg 37" W.. We will transit the straits of Gibralter tomorrow and expect to be in Valencia Sat.. Lots of shipping now. We have 8 to 12 ships on the Radar most of the time. It will be a busy night.
