Greetings;
Our current position is 10 deg 38 N - 30 deg 49 W. We continue to make 150 - 160 nm per day. Not great but OK given the conditions. We are close reaching under full main and working jib. We are trying to keep our coarse as northerly as possible and minimize our westerly set. We're sailing at 35 - 40 deg apparent wind of 20 -25 knots. Last night we reefed for the 1st time due to rough seas.
Finalmente also carries a screecher ( code 0 ) sail on a short bowsprit which we've set a few times in lighter winds. IT won't point very high so it's stowed for now. We also have a spinnaker but havn't used it yet.
The crew is adapting to hand steering 24 / 7 and the watch system this necessitates. Not much leisure time. Sleep has become a very valuable commodity. Not always easy to come by in a rocking, noisy, underway boat.
We added the watermaker to the list of malfunctioning equipment. We continue to troubleshoot but no luck yet. We have water enough for drinking and cooking to the Azores but no more showers on the transom.
Ni estimates 10 days to the Azores. I hate to think what we will look and smell like by then.
More Later.
Finalmente crew
