The latest from Finalmente via Terri Hawkins:

Hi, All!

I received a phone call over the Internet from Ray Monday, April 9th. He said all was well and Finalmente was headed out to sea.

They expected to sail N.E. (winds permitting) and hoped to cross the equator at about 28 degrees W. That should allow them to enter the N. Atlantic trade winds and sail roughly N. to the Azores. This is 3000 nm and they expect it to take them two to three weeks.

It's then 1000 nm into the Mediterranean and another 1000 nm to Genoa, Italy. They hope to make stops in the Azores, Gibraltar, Majorca and Valencia (America's Cup Racing). They won't be racing, but hopefully viewing some racing.

Finalmente hasn't been successful at making contact with sailmail's base station as of yet. They will continue to try as they progress across the Atlantic. I'll continue to keep you all posted as I hear any news.

Love to All,

Terri
