Questions: Learn to Sail Coordinator
This is the entry level class for the student who has no sailing experience. All first time entry level students are admitted at a reduced tuition of $60** (First Time). This course is designed to be an entertaining and simple introduction to sailing and water safety. Each sailor will learn the parts of the boat, how to rig (set up) the boat, how to leave and return to the dock under sail, and capsize recovery. This is a hands-on, get-wet and have-a-lot of fun type of class.
This class must be completed satisfactorily before advancing to the beginners class.
This course is designed to build skills and confidence through instruction time on the water, chats on shore, and focus on fundamentals of sailing, safety and boat handling. Tuition for the Beginner Class is $135**.
Prerequisite: A Novice level class including rigging and capsize recovery.
Sailors will expand their knowledge of boat handling techniques and begin racing. Simple theory of sail shape, introduction to wind and currents, and how to go faster will be taught. Sailors will leave this class with the ability to sail efficiently in any direction and deal with a variety of obstacles and conditions. Tuition for the Intermediate Class is $135**.
Prerequisite: Completion of a Beginner level class.
**In addition to the tuition, all non-SSC members must join the club as a short-term Youth Member(Cost $15.00) to participate in the program.
SSC/RYC Week CampThis week long sailing camp has been a joint effort of the Stockton Sailing Club and the Richmond Yacht Club for more than a decade. Young sailors, from 9 to 16, camp on the grounds for a fun week of sailing and onshore activities. They're taught by experienced sailing instructors and supervised by volunteer adults. Camp is open to SSC members, or young sailors who've participated in Learn to Sail, if space is available. Camp will be Sun, July 13, thru Saturday, July 19, 2008. |
